Equality Ride 2007

Looks like the Equality Riders won't be coming back to ACU this year. But they will be at Baylor...

Guess they felt too welcome at ACU. . .I guess the inoculation to nonviolent protest is being hospitable? Sure did bring everyone out to chapel, though.

Hm. That makes sense, particularly if the point of nonviolent protest is to expose the brutality of your oppressor.

I dunno. I read that they went to Liberty University twice. The first year Liberty planned events with them, had them as guests at chapel, etc. The second year they had them arrested. Go figure.

Scoots,

The Equality Riders were arrested the second year for the simple fact they were invited the first year with certain provisions, like being able to talk with students but not hand out any pamphlets or papers. After they had a full day of conversation with the students they snuck back on property and attempted to disperse material.

Basically the Equality Ride shown its self to be untrustworthy and many schools have taken that as an example and are now unwilling to invite them, or invite them again.
